With funding from the NERRS Science Collaborative, the working group is compiling available blue carbon data on sediment carbon stocks and carbon sequestration from eelgrass meadows, tidal marshes, and tidal forested wetlands throughout the Pacific Northwest. These data will include results from the NERRS Science Collaborative-funded PNW Carbon Stocks and Blue Carbon Database Project, as well as other research projects that have been conducted throughout the region. This effort will bring together regional blue carbon data from varied sources into one place for use by a range of end-users including wetland managers, policy makers, and researchers.

We are collaborating with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) in Edgewater, MD to incorporate these data into a national blue carbon database, and are exploring other means of disseminating the information including publication of a user-friendly summary of existing data, and potentially a research publication focused on the region.
